Name Our Park!

Help shape the heart of our new community

Every great neighbourhood needs a place where memories are made. Our central park and reserve is that place — and we want you to give it a name that will last for generations.
Help shape the heart of our new community

Nestled at the centre of Awa Park, our community reserve is more than just open space — it's where neighbours will meet, children will play, and native trees will one day tower above. It's a place that deserves a name with meaning.

The name should reflect our location, our values, and the vision we share for this neighbourhood. It might draw on the natural landscape, local history, te reo Māori, or simply capture the feeling of what this place will become.

Residents, future owners, and members of the wider community are all welcome to enter. This is your park — we can't think of anyone better to name it.

How to Enter

Untitled
Think of a Name
Let your imagination roam. Draw on nature, history, te reo Māori, or the feeling this place gives you.

Untitled

Fill in the entry form with your name, contact details, and your submission. Entries close on the deadline.
Untitled
Winner Chosen
The winning name will be chosen by a panel including local council and community members.

Naming Guidelines

A name has the power to give a place its identity, to tell the story of where it came from, what it means to the people who gather there, and how it fits into the land around it. We're looking for something that will feel just as right in fifty years as it does today.

To help guide your thinking, we've put together a few things to keep in mind when crafting your submission. There are no rigid rules here, just a spirit we'd love your entry to reflect.

Reflect the natural environment
Awa Park is defined by its waterways, native plantings, and open green spaces. Names that echo the land and landscape tend to resonate most deeply
Awa Park at Maewa in Feilding
Te reo Māori is warmly welcomed
Names in te reo Māori that are meaningful and used with appropriate context are strongly encouraged. Please include a translation and explanation in your entry.
Awa Park Open Day June
Community over commerce
Names should reflect the spirit of the community, not commercial brands or personal promotions. The name will belong to everyone who calls Awa Park home
CSGAwaPark
Easy to say, easy to remember
A great park name rolls off the tongue and sticks in the memory. Think about how it sounds when someone gives directions, or tells a story about their day there.
